Punta Cana is my first professional work. It is a co-directed and co-written film by Mariana Vargas, a college classmate, and me. We researched, studied films, read books references for the story, and worked on the script for more than a year before shooting the film.

In this project I put in practice for the first time all my knowledge in filmic language. We wanted it to transmit the density of the relation. How some days in that marriage felt really long in their old house, but at the same time, how stressful could be a place like an airport for them.

The communication between the couple and how much anxiety could Angustín bear before losing his mind, were aspects of the story that concerned us. It was important to represent their actions and conversations in the rawest way.
